After months of record-setting brutally cold weather we were pleasantly surprised by a warm, sunny ski day. Banwell’s annual ski trip to Mt. Sunapee was the first time this group has skied together as we have had a few new members added to our team in 2014. We quickly learned that we have a vast array of different skill sets. From near-lightning fast downhill speed to haven’t-been-on-skies-in-ten-years cautiousness to “snow shoes count, right?” we had mixed skill levels. However, none of that mattered as we all eventually made it down the mountain all in one piece. Between the excellent snow condition and the perfect weather many considered this as one of the top Banwell Ski Day’s in recent memory.
A highlight of the day was a certain team member. Zach, self proclaimed as the least qualified skier, stole the show. Perhaps relying on his memories of the most recent winter Olympics, Zach perfectly implemented a downhill stance that even a 1984 Gold medalist would have admired. Half of us couldn’t stop laughing while the other half took notes. Bravo, sir.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Banwell outing without libations and food. Before going home we all met at Millstone at 74 Main in nearby New London. The table shared countless apps, enjoyed many tasty cocktails, and ultimately over-indulged on a few too many desserts.
All in all it was a great day and very much welcomed after a cold, snowy and busy winter.
