Jennifer Darling and Cristopher Salomon from Banwell Architects attended the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains second annual To Get Her There Luncheon on Friday, March 21 at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford, NH. This year’s keynote speaker was the Honorable Chief Justice Linda Stewart Dalianis of the NH Supreme Court. The Girl Scouts serve more than 12,300 girls throughout New Hampshire and Vermont. With the guidance of more than 5,000 dedicated and trained volunteers, girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Through hundreds of programs offered each year, girls develop their leadership potential through activities that enable them to discover their values, skills and the world; connect with others in a multicultural environment; and take action to make a difference in the world.
Banwell was hired to do a comprehensive review of all of the properties the Girl Scouts own in NH and VT (a total of 14 properties). We conducted site visits to each property and developed overall existing site plans of existing facilities. Banwell then lead a series of charrettes, two in NH and one in Vermont to solicit feedback from the members, including administration, parents, volunteers and the girl scouts themselves. After gathering information from the meetings, Banwell worked with the administration to develop master plans for the three top priority properties. Banwell is now continuing to develop plans for a prototype Program Center to be built at several of the properties.
