For many, the change of seasons is observed by a mark on a calendar, or differences in temperature; additional daylight, the melting of snow, or by the color of leaves on a tree…
But for a number of parents, the “Change of Seasons” refers to something completely different, and is marked only by which sports venue you find yourself driving to!
As a parent of a pair of kids active in sports, I find myself (like any number of you parents out there) running around like crazy – practice every night, games on weekends. There’s a very familiar phrase in our office: “Gotta go! You can hear it in the late afternoon/ early evening throughout the year. The only difference being where we “gotta go” to – or which season we’re in!
We are fully embedded in “Lacrosse Season” right now, but I find myself packing up and heading out to go to a weekend-long Hockey tournament (the sports-season equivalent to Indian Summer, or snow in July, I suppose)
It gets to be very hectic, but as any parent will tell you – we wouldn’t have it any other way… Watching the kids do something they love – whether it be sports, or music, or Girl Scouts, or Drama, or any other activity – it really is worth all the hassle. So, I say bring it on! – Here’s to….
Wait – what season is it again?
