Banwell Architects was asked by the Town of Wolfeboro, NH to aid in the design of their new Public Safety Building. After reviewing many different location options, it was decided that the best location would be at the site of their current facility.
This, of course, carried some inherent difficulties. The prospect of building / renovating a Public Safety Building in place of an existing facility – without disrupting operations – was a daunting task!
The building was designed to be constructed in Phases:
Phase I would see a new Apparatus Bay, small-vehicles Garage, and ancillary spaces constructed.
Phase II would see the existing Apparatus Bay demolished, and a new structure built in its spot (housing primarily Fire Department Operations)
Phase III would see the renovation of the existing Office Structure to house expanded Police Operations.
Construction is currently underway! Phase I is complete – the Fire Trucks have a new home! Phase II is currently underway, with the new Fire Department Office Space currently closed in and receiving interior partitioning. The Public safety Officials have been EXTREMELY patient in their day-to-day dance around construction crews!
The Town should have a completed facility in the Fall of 2025!
