Bio X Cell
The new Bio X Cell building located in Lebanon, NH is headquarters to Bio X Cell’s production facilities and administrative offices.
Banwell Architects designed the building as a set of intersecting rectilinear volumes. The shorter of the volumes hosts individual offices, an open office area, a kitchen and a break room and meeting rooms. Located within the taller volume are the manufacturing areas, where high quality, bulk quantity antibodies for biochemical research are created, shipping and receiving and a loading dock. A centrally located circulation corridor links the areas of office and production.
The building is enclosed with insulated metals panels. A secondary outboard skin of corrugated steel graphically distinguishes the building volumes, while reducing the visual scale of the facility. Western Red Cedar cladding at the secondary entries and a timber and steele entryway provide tactile, naturally derived, and human scaled features at areas where the public and employees come into direct contact with the exterior of the building.
Daylight is accomplished through a combination of puncture windows, expanses of storefront and clerestory windows in the production areas. Numerous skylights are located to further provide access to natural light in areas central to the building.
Construction was completed at the end of 2019.
